The neoplatonic philosopher Plotinus conceived of the cosmos as a vast spinning disc. A godlike being would see that nothing really changes, but the human perspective, which only sees one part of the cosmos, conveys the impression that things are in constant flux. Old vinyl records illustrate this principle. The LP disk is the cosmos seen by the philosopher.
